Board Certified Veterinary Surgeon – Offering Sign On Bonus, and Salary Range of $250K-$350K + Production

Veterinary Surgical Center of Long Island (“VSCLI”) is seeking a Board-Certified Veterinary Surgeon to join an elite and amazing team.  You will be working alongside our Chief Surgeon, who is regarded as one of NY’s TOP surgeons.  

VSCLI is a PRIVATELY-OWNED Specialty Referral Practice and a 24-Hour Emergency Care Hospital in Huntington, NY.  Our brand-new 15,000 square-foot state-of-the-art hospital opened its doors in May 2024.   VSCLI’s services include:  Specialty Surgery, Diagnostics, and Emergency Care. VSCLI is seeking an experienced specialty Veterinary Surgeon to join our Team, and assist us in rapidly growing our specialty referral practice and 24-hour emergency hospital.

VSCLI is looking for a highly skilled Board-Certified Veterinary Surgeon who is dedicated to delivering the highest quality of surgical care possible.  We are seeking a veterinary surgeon who is proficient in soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, surgical oncology, neurosurgery, and endoscopy.

Be an integral part of VSCLI’s surgical team as it rapidly grows!  VSCLI’s referring practices are seeking Board-Certified Veterinary Surgeons who provide both outstanding communication to them and outstanding surgical care to its clients.  This candidate must be professional, compassionate, dedicated, and communicates well with colleagues, staff, and clients.   

Key responsibilities include:

• Performing surgeries on small animals including: soft tissue, orthopedic, surgical oncology, neurosurgical oncology, and endoscopy
• Running clinics/consultations with new clients who are interested in surgery for their pet, including physical exams.
• Effectively communicating with referring practices.
• Effectively communicating with pet owners, providing compassionate care to both pets and their families.
• Maintaining accurate medical records (PMS is Instinct) and staying informed about the latest advances in surgical techniques.
• Leading your surgical team.
• On-call responsibilities.
• Utilizing advanced diagnostic tools, including radiology, MRI, CT scan to help determine/guide the appropriate decision for patients.

Qualifications (Required)

• Board-certified Surgeon
• Veterinarian degree (DVM) from an accredited college or university
• Current NYS Veterinary License
• DEA registration must be obtained and maintained
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Excellent surgical skills.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with co-workers and clients.
• Commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality veterinary care.
• Excellent Client communication skills are critical.  Clients are trusting you for all of the information that they need to make decisions about their family member. 
• Be able to kneel on the floor and crouch down to examine patients.
