- Equine Surgeon
Description
We are a growing medical center with the main hospital facility housing 80-130 horses depending on the time of year. The hospital includes climate controlled ICU stalls, isolation stalls, and various barns, paddocks and pastures. The surgery facility includes MRI, a Storz arthroscopy system, multiple x-ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy systems. The hospital employs over 40 technicians that help with the ambulatory, surgery, and ICU patients. The surgery caseload is made up of internal referrals from the group practices as well as outside local practices.
Two surgeons share the caseload which includes soft tissue, orthopedic, and emergency surgeries. An emergency/critical care service manages primary emergency receiving, therefore the number of after-hours emergencies requiring the surgeon to be present is limited. The position offered would be either 4 or 5 days per week and due to the multiple practice locations, there is some flexibility in living location. A generous and competitive compensation and benefits package is offered. This position is ideal for someone that likes to be in a collaborative atmosphere with other specialists (internal medicine, sports medicine, critical care), residents, interns, and students. LBEMC is known for its continuous learning culture, investment in new technologies and medical excellence.
Loomis Basin Equine Medical Group consists of approximately 50 doctors working out of 7 different hospitals. The main hospital sits on 28 acres east of Sacramento in the Sierra foothills close to skiing, the American river, and various state and national parks. The other hospitals are located in the Napa Valley, North Coast, Orange County, San Luis Obispo and San Francisco Bay Areas. We currently have an equine surgery position available and are seeking a dynamic individual looking for their next challenge.
