Description
Running ‘S’ Equine Veterinary Services, a 30-year-old sole-owner and operated primary/secondary care and referral center, located in north central New Jersey, is seeking a board-certified surgeon to join our team.
The ideal applicant has experience and facility in all facets of equine surgery and medicine as well as lameness and other specialties such as respiratory, laparoscopic, and ophthalmic procedures. You will be joining a talented and dedicated team with four other full-time veterinarians including one boarded surgeon, three ambulatory veterinarians.
Our facilities include a spacious surgical suite with two induction/recovery stalls, 8 indoor stalls, a large climate-controlled examination room with stocks and holding stall. There is a large paved area outside to perform examinations as well as paddock space for turnout and observing horses in motion. Diagnostic equipment includes digital radiography, digital ultrasonography and dynamic and static video endoscopy. A gait analysis system is available. The practice is fully equipped for equine fracture repair, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, laser surgery, electrosurgery including endoscopic electrosurgery. The surgeon will be expected to advance the surgical service of the practice and further develop the referral base and hospital case load.
For ambulatory service we serve an area within a 30-mile radius of the hospital and referrals come from throughout New Jersey and surrounding states.
The caseload is widely varied consisting largely of Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses , Standardbreds and Arabians. The majority of horse in the practice are involved in English Sport Horse disciplines, but Western riding, barrel racing and combined driving are also popular. The surgeries we perform coincide with this variety of horses and their uses. We operate the hospital with the support of interns, a full team of technicians, grooms and assistants to help with procedures. The role is primarily hospital-oriented including involvement in ambulatory service on the nights of primary emergency duties, alternating with the other veterinarians on the team.
Compensation is production based with a guaranteed minimum. Emergency fees are paid directly to the veterinarian, as they are collected monthly. Licensing and professional insurance are included, as well as professional dues for ACVS, AAEP, and AVMA as well as State and local organizations.
Requirements
Must be willing to rotate into general on-call schedule. Must be eligible for state licensure in New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania and New York.
