- RELIEF EQUINE VETERINARY SURGEON

Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery (“ESMS”) is looking for a highly qualified Relief Equine Surgeon to join our team and provide expert surgical care on an as-needed basis. As a Relief Equine Veterinary Surgeon, you will perform elective and emergency surgical procedures, collaborate with our experienced team of veterinarians and technicians, and contribute to the continuity of high-quality patient care during planned or short-notice absences of our staff surgeons.
ESMS’ flagship hospital, located in Weatherford, TX just thirty minutes west of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, is a large and growing 100% equine practice providing 24-hour emergency, critical care, and surgical services such as arthroscopy, fracture repair, laparoscopy, upper airway procedures and emergency exploratory laparotomy. Facilities include a cutting-edge critical care/intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, hospital with 6 exam rooms, a surgery suite with two induction/recovery stalls, and over eighty stalls for hospitalization.
In addition to a considerable surgery caseload, ESMS sees a substantial number of lameness cases. Other services include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, AquaTred, digital radiology and CAT, gas anesthesia, ESWT, Stem Cell & IRAP, digital ultrasound, 1-meter and 3-meter video endoscopy. Currently, the hospital has 2 boarded Surgeons, 1 boarded Internal Medicine specialist, 5 Interns and 2 Associate Veterinarians. We also have an excellent team including several RVTs and a large and well-trained support staff.
Qualifications - The successful applicant will be Board-certified or will have recently completed surgery residency training. We are seeking an experienced, ambitious, entrepreneurial-minded individual with a desire to be part of a team of veterinarians working together to provide high quality emergency sports medicine to our clients. We seek a team-oriented Associates with:
- Available during planned or short-notice absences of our staff surgeons.

- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
- Keen interest and experience in equine sports medicine and lameness.
The successful applicant must possess a DVM or equivalent and be licensed to practice in Texas.
This position will be contract-based with competitive relief rates, flexible scheduling and a supportive work environment, and opportunities to return for future relief assignments..

Requirements
Board certified surgeon -or- recent completion of surgery residency training
Possess a DVM or equivalent
Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Texas
