The surgery service will support our emergency department as well as patients referred from our General Practice and our local veterinarians. Our General Practice consists of 9 full-time doctors, and our Emergency and Critical Care service consists of 14 full-time doctors, including two Criticalists. Our ER is very well staffed with no lapses in coverage to care for your patients after hours.
Our Emergency & Specialty Center includes 13 exam rooms, 2 lobby's/waiting areas, 3 surgery suites, CT, hyperbaric, high flow, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, mechanical ventilation (run by our Crit Care service) and more. In late 2021, we opened the VMC Animal Blood bank which is a fully functioning in-house blood bank run by our Critical Care team.

After hours: Our emergency doctors have experience in performing all the standard ER surgeries (enterotomy, RNA, GDV, c-section, pyometras, splenectomy, etc.). Our ER doctors currently have a surgery rotation for these more basic surgeries. If desired by our surgeon, our ER doctors can continue this rotation to eliminate the after-hours calls to our surgeon.
Residents are encouraged to apply and work directly with our experienced boarded surgeon.
We sincerely care about our doctors and staff. You will have the support staff you need to navigate your cases and practice high quality medicine. We are known for our approach to customer/patient care and have been a part of the Bradenton/Sarasota community for 20 years. Our hospital is owned by a veterinarian that has practiced emergency medicine for 18 years.
