Driven by their vision to advance veterinary medical care while fostering an inspiring hospital culture, Drs. Michael and Tracy Schlicksup created CVETS with the intention of forming a full-service, privately-owned, veterinary hospital in Columbia. CVETS has quickly become Columbia’s only privately owned veterinary hospital that provides 24 Hour Emergency and Specialty Care in Surgery, Critical Care, Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Radiology, Oncology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology and Dentistry in one facility.

CVETS, Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty, is a new Specialty/ER hospital looking to add Surgery Nursing Manager. The brand new 9000 square foot facility opened in May of 2018 and is growing rapidly. The facility includes a dedicated ICU, multiple operating rooms, a radiology suite, dedicated facilities for endoscopy, chemotherapy administration and special procedures, ultrasound, a 16 slice CT scan, on-site MRI and support by multiple additional specialists (24-hour emergency, internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, surgery, dermatology and radiology). The hospital is located on the northeast side of Columbia, South Carolina - an area that is rapidly growing and was not previously serviced by specialty care. The hospital and its staff have been designed with a culture aimed at exceptional client services and personal job fulfillment.

We are seeking Experienced Surgery Nursing Manager LVT, who is interested in being on the ground floor of a progressive and rapidly developing Specialty Referral Emergency Hospital. Candidates interested in working in a non-corporate environment that is flexible and motivated to grow a department and hospital are encouraged to apply. Key Individual Responsibilities:

  • Be punctual and have strong dependability with attendance, work ethic and responsibility
  • Participate in continuing education programs with at least ten (10) credit hours in approved lectures/forums per year.
  • Obtain or maintain membership in a professional society.
  • Responsible work ethic including working with others, working independently, and prioritizing with leadership quality patient care and focus.

Essential Functions:

  • Taking vital signs and obtaining patient medical history; Performing emergency first aid
  • Specimen collection and performing laboratory procedures.
  • Administration of medication under direction of veterinarian
  • Radiology/Imaging skills required including X-ray’s, MRI’s, and CT Scans
  • Patient preparation for surgical procedures, intake and discharge as required.
  • Proactively communicate patient status to on coming shift and frequently with doctors to facilitate the highest level of patient care.
  • Leadership of the surgery team and administrative tasks associated with team management
