Midwest Veterinary Specialists is a unique, 100% privately owned specialty hospital dedicated to clinical excellence, exceptional patient care, and an outstanding client experience. Founded and led by board-certified surgeon and sports medicine specialist Dr. Mary Sarah Bergh, our state-of-the-art facility opened in 2022 and has experienced remarkable growth, allowing us to continue expanding our team and services.

We are an appointment-based surgical, sports medicine, and rehabilitation center providing comprehensive care for companion animals and working/sporting dogs. Our services include advanced diagnostics, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, sports medicine, rehabilitation, integrative therapies, and performance conditioning programs. While our patients receive around-the-clock care, client-facing hours are limited to weekdays, allowing our doctors to enjoy a sustainable schedule without routine weekend or holiday emergency surgery responsibilities.

Our award-winning, 9,000-square-foot hospital was designed by a surgeon for surgeons, with a focus on efficiency, collaboration, and exceptional patient care. The facility features two orthopedic operating suites, a dedicated soft tissue operating room, arthroscopy & laparoscopy equipment, advanced imaging including a 64-slice CT scanner, digital radiography, ultrasound, comprehensive surgical instrumentation and implants, cloud-based medical records, and thoughtfully designed workspaces that support seamless workflow and communication.

One of our greatest strengths is the close integration between our surgery, sports medicine, and rehabilitation services. Our rehabilitation department features an underwater treadmill, custom SwimEx therapy pool, land treadmill, shockwave therapy, therapeutic laser, therapeutic ultrasound, acupuncture, and a large rehabilitation gym. This collaborative approach allows us to guide patients from diagnosis through recovery and return to function while achieving exceptional outcomes.
