Company History
Violet Crown Veterinary Specialists (VCVS) was founded by longtime friends and colleagues, Dr. Kelly Might and Dr. Katie Kennedy. Kelly and Katie met while performing their surgical residencies at Washington State University in 2011. They became fast friends and shared dreams of opening a specialty and emergency facility together as part of their professional trajectory. After completing his residency in 2013, Dr. Kelly Might started Austin Area Mobile Veterinary Surgery (AAMVS), performing specialty surgical procedures within the operating rooms of referring general practices, with an emphasis on orthopedic procedures. Meanwhile, Dr. Kennedy completed the Colorado State University Surgical Oncology fellowship following her surgical residency. In 2022 Kelly and Katie joined forces, realizing their dreams of opening a 24/7 specialty and emergency referral hospital. In August of 2023 AAMVS became Violet Crown Veterinary Specialists, opening its doors in the west Austin suburb of Bee Cave, TX. Soon after opening VCVS started a medical oncology department headed by Dr. Amanda Brehm, making VCVS one of the only practices in Texas with medical and surgical oncology departments. 2024 also saw the start of a critical care department with the addition of Dr. Alicia Niedzwecki. VCVS is excited to continue it's growth trajectory and serving the people and pets of the Austin area!
