Description
Chino Valley Equine Hospital was founded in 1973 by Dr. Robert H Baker as one of the first equine hospitals in California. Dr. A. T. Fischer Jr., DVM DACVS joined the practice in 1985 and became the owner with Anne Vachon DVM PhD DACVS in 1990. From its early days, Chino Valley Equine has been at the forefront of development of diagnostic techniques and innovative surgical procedures. In 2007, the new Chino Valley Equine Hospital opened on a much larger piece of land (6.25 acres) in the Chino Hills Equestrian overlay area. The main building houses 2 operating rooms with 4 recovery stalls, MRI, two radiography suites, a standing surgery area and an ultrasonographic area, full inhouse laboratory, offices, observation areas, library. There are three barns; critical and medical care (14 stalls), elective cases (16 stalls), and an isolation facility (6 stalls) with 4 outside holding pens. We are associated with Western University of Health Sciences School of Veterinary medicine who have third or fourth year students rotate here. We also have multiple preceptors each year.
The candidate should have an interest in minimally invasive surgeries (laparoscopy and arthroscopy), orthopedics, and general surgery including abdominal. An interest in advanced diagnostics is sought. Caseload will be centered on lameness and performance issues.
Diagnostic equipment: Digital radiography, Ultrasonography, MRI (Esaote), Equinosis Q, Videoendoscopy (1-3meters), Full in-house laboratory , PCR testing
Surgical Modalities: CO2 and diode lasers, Photodynamic therapy for tumors, Tenex ultrasonic debridement, Laparoscopy, Arthroscopy, Internal fixation
Compensation
The candidate will be paid on a percentage of production with a guaranteed minimum.
Malpractice, CE, Professional memberships are paid for.
Paid time off.
Requirements
A 5 day work week with 3-4 nights of emergency will be the norm. You will be part of a team with 2 other ACVS surgeons
