- Small Animal Surgeon in Spain (ACVS/ECVS)
Description
The UCV Veterinary Hospital, a referral university hospital for small animals, is seeking to recruit a Senior Surgeon to join a solid, growing project within a highly specialised clinical environment.
We are looking for a professional with experience in referral surgery and the management of complex cases, with interest in multidisciplinary collaboration and a strong clinical, teaching and research vocation.
About the hospital
UCV Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a referral university centre focused on second- and third-opinion cases. It has a highly specialised team (more than 15 diplomates and active residency programmes) and a working model based on close collaboration between services.
Clinical activity is carried out in coordination with multiple specialties (anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology, cardiology, ICU, among others), within a dynamic, excellence-driven environment.
The role
The successful candidate will join an established surgical service with continuous activity in both soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics/traumatology, participating in complex procedures and contributing to the ongoing development of the service.
A high level of autonomy is expected, combined with a collaborative approach. The role includes participation in on-call duties, supervision of interns and residents, and close teamwork with other specialists.
As part of a university hospital, the position involves active participation in clinical teaching, as well as opportunities in research, publications and academic projects.

Requirements
Essential
- Veterinary degree
- Eligibility to work in Spain
- Advanced training in small animal surgery, meeting one of the following criteria:
- European Diplomate (ECVS) or American Diplomate (ACVS), or completion of a recognised residency programme and being eligible to sitthe board examination
- Experience in a hospital environment and in the management of complex surgicalcases
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple services and specialties
- Interest in teaching within a university setting
- Fluent professional English, Spanish is a must.
