Veterinary Surgeon – Join a Growing Specialty Team | Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency (BASE)

Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency (BASE) is seeking a board-certified Veterinary Surgeon or residency-trained veterinarian to join our growing specialty and emergency hospital in Torrance, California.

We are a privately owned, veterinarian-led hospital with an established emergency and specialty foundation, including surgery and internal medicine services. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, high-functioning team while playing a key role in the continued expansion of our surgical service within a rapidly growing multi-specialty hospital.

Residents completing a surgical residency are encouraged to apply—we are happy to support the transition into specialty practice.

 
About BASE
Our Torrance location currently operates:

• Emergency and critical care service
• Surgery service
• Internal medicine service
• Anesthesiology service

Due to strong demand, we are expanding into a new 16,000 sq ft specialty hospital, scheduled for completion in November 2026.

 
Surgical Facilities & Equipment
We are actively building a purpose-designed surgical environment to support advanced procedures and future growth, including:

Arthrex system supporting minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures
Three addition dedicated operating rooms in the new facility
Boom-mounted systems in ORs for optimal workflow and efficiency
Nora flooring throughout surgical suites (top-tier, hygienic, and ergonomic)
Class I and Class II sterile corridors, designed to support best-in-class surgical flow and infection control
Our surgical expansion is being designed with a focus on efficiency, sterility, and surgeon workflow, creating a high-level environment for advanced procedures.

 
 
What Your First 6 Months Will Look Like
Integrate into an active surgical caseload from both emergency and referral sources
Collaborate across services on complex cases
Utilize and help refine a newly built surgical environment
Contribute to workflow and service development as the hospital expands
 
Schedule
Full Time
 
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $250,000 – $350,000
Production-based commission structure
No negative accrual
Health, dental, and vision insurance
CE allowance and paid CE days
