About Us
Hill Country Veterinary Surgical Specialty is a privately owned veterinary small animal referral surgical practice. We specialize in soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, offering a collaborative environment that fosters professional growth and innovation. Our commitment is to elevate the standard of care for our patients while maintaining a balanced, supportive workplace for our team. We have quickly outgrown our facility within 18 months and will embark on a new facility on the same property. The surgeon would have input in buildout and design. Our current facility houses an independently owned internal medicine service to manage those postoperative cases that need an internal medicine specialist and a separate independently owned after-hours/weekends/holiday emergency service to manage your cases after hours.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who wants to come and be the #1 surgeon in this facility to help grow and mold into their own service. The individual would have full support of founding surgeon and complement each other in organizing and running the hospital. This is a phenomenal opportunity for someone who wants to create their ideal work week, ideal work environment, while simultaneously working in a privately owned hospital.
Qualifications:
DVM/VMD degree from an accredited institution.
Small Animal Board-certified surgeon or an individual residency training in veterinary surgery.
Expertise in soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. Proficiency in arthroscopy and MIS techniques is ideal. Comfort and skill to provide surgical procedures for IM service is beneficial. Experience in total joint replacement program and proficiency a plus. We would entertain a special interest individual who wants to focus on primarily soft tissue procedures with some basic orthopedic skills.
Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of advanced surgeries, focusing on soft tissue and orthopedic specialties.
Provide high-quality care and develop relationships with our referring veterinarians. We have been in the region for 16 years and have worked with referring veterinarians from over 200 practices located across central/south Texas, west Texas, Texas Panhandle and New Mexico.
Collaborate with referring veterinarians and clients to ensure the best outcomes.
Participate in professional development opportunities and mentorship of support staff.
