Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville-part of the Innovetive Petcare network-is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented LVT to join our Internal Medicine team. This role is ideal for technicians who want to work at the top of their license, expand their specialty skillset, and maintain exceptional work-life balance.
- Work directly with board-certified Internal Medicine specialists

Key Responsibilities - Internal Medicine & Specialty Care
As a key member of our Internal Medicine department, you'll work closely with our board-certified specialists and emergency team to provide advanced diagnostics and treatments for complex medical cases.
- Assist with and support advanced diagnostic procedures, including:
- Ultrasound-guided sampling
- Endoscopy, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy
- Bone marrow aspirates
- Collect, process, and manage laboratory samples (blood, urine, CSF, etc.)
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized diagnostic and medical equipment
- Provide advanced monitoring for hospitalized and critical care patients
- Support anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and therapeutic treatments with precision
- Partner with veterinarians to support client education and case updates
- Ensure continuity of care and detailed medical record documentation
- Provide compassionate, empathetic support to patients and their families
- Collaborate closely with Internal Medicine, ER, and ICU teams
- Participate in case discussions and specialty rounds
- Contribute to a culture of shared learning and clinical excellence
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Tennessee or eligible for licensure
- 2-3+ years of experience in Internal Medicine, Emergency, or Specialty practice
- Strong technical proficiency in:
- Anesthesia and patient monitoring
- Diagnostic procedures and sample handling
- Critical patient care
- Excellent communication skills and a team-focused mindset
- VTS (Internal Medicine or Emergency & Critical Care) or actively pursuing
- Experience in specialty diagnostics and advanced case management
- Demonstrated interest in continued professional growth and leadership
- Advanced understanding of anesthesia protocols, monitoring equipment, and emergency response
- Experience with a wide range of anesthesia agents and monitoring devices
- Familiarity with advanced surgical and procedural support (soft tissue, orthopedic exposure preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to function calmly in high-acuity situations
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Capable of meeting the physical demands of specialty procedures and emergency situations

About Animal Emergency & Specialty Center - Knoxville
Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville is an AAHA Accredited, premier referral and emergency veterinary hospital. We have an emergency and critical care unit that is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have a variety of board-certified surgeons and specialists at AESC who treat a wide range of veterinary orthopedic, oncology, thoracic, abdominal, and soft-tissue conditions. Our team includes over 20 compassionate and highly trained Licensed Veterinary Technicians, numerous veterinary assistants, other support staff, and supportive administration.
We have the latest specialized surgery and diagnostic instrumentation and equipment including 16-slice CT scanner, Vivid iQ echocardiogram platform, digital radiology, ultrasound systems, fluoroscopy unity, endoscopy, high-def Storz tower with new laparoscopic equipment, Arthrex equipment, LigaSure, Autocon III, Storz Ho-YAG laser, Synthes locking plates, and ESF equipment. In 2026, we will be completing our 20,000-square-foot specialty expansion and we will be adding Neurology, Cardiology, and other specialists to our team, as well as a new MRI scanner, CT scanner, linear accelerator, IR suite with ceiling-mounted fluoroscopy, and surgical suites measuring at least 18' x 18'.
